Ukraine reports Starlink restrictions affecting military operations

Ukraine has reported restrictions on its access to Starlink satellite connectivity, with officials saying the disruption has affected military operations against Russia.

The Guardian reported that Ukrainian forces had experienced a sudden reduction in Starlink access, hampering long-range missile strikes.

SpaceX, which operates the low Earth orbit (LEO) satellite constellation, has been a key provider of connectivity to Ukrainian forces since Russia's full-scale invasion in 2022. However, the reported disruption has raised questions about the service's reliability amid growing political pressure on Kyiv.

Serhiy Beskrestnov, an adviser to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, said the connectivity problems had caused several combat missions to fail. He said the sudden disruption could not be a coincidence and was connected to the current political situation.

SpaceX said it had made no changes to Starlink's service for the Ukrainian military.
The reported restrictions come amid pressure from US President Donald Trump for Ukraine to halt strikes against Russian oil refineries.
