The director general and two board members of Lebanese state-owned operator Ogero face public prosecution by the country’s Attorney General.

According to a report in L’Orient-Le Jour, Ogero’s Imad Kreidieh and board members Ghassan Daher and Hadi Abu Farhat were referred to Lebanon’s Court of Auditors on 8th June over claims of illegal conduct on the part of the operator.

Local news source Naharnet stated that the referral was made over “violations committed by Ogero as part of a consensual agreement with the Telecom Ministry to carry out maintenance works and operate the facilities and landline networks belonging to the Ministry for the year 2019.”

Ogero is 100% state-owned, and is supervised by Lebanon’s Ministry of Telecommunications. The country’s parliamentary telecommunications committee last week instructed telecoms minister Talal Hawat to ensure the continuation of a contract signed between Ogero and the state in 2019.
